IInd Wall Climbing Competition started- 03 Feb 2008
IInd Wall Climbing Competition started from 3 Feb at Maurice Herzog & Louis Climbing Competition Wall at International Mountain Museum (IMM). Senior General Member and IMM advisor Mr. Dinesh Gurung inaugurated the progam by lighting panas. NMA General Secretary and Convener - Sports Climbing Committee Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah shade light on the objectives of organing such type climbing competition in IMM. He also informed that NMA received the full membership of International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC). Mr. Nawang Nima Sherpa, Route Setter, briefed the competitors about the rules and regulatioon of the competition where as Mr. R.P. Pant- Convener for Discipline Committee stressed about the importance of discipline in the competition. NMA Advisor Mr. Shambhu Tamang, Mr. Kamal Man Gurung, Ms. Lucky Karki and
Mr. Ganesh Bahadur Bhatterai are the members of jury. Similarly, Mr. R.P.Pant,
Mr. Da Gombu Sherpa and Mr. Tika Sapkota are members of judge. Altogether 33 participants (18 male and 15 female ) had applied to participate in the program.

Interacion program on "Identification of positve role in the development of Nepalese Tourism"
NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa inaugurated the interaction program titled on "Identification of positve role in the development of Nepalese Tourism" on 4 Feb at International Mountain Museum. Mr. Bijay Gurung, Convener- Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee Monitoring Committee.

 

US Ambassador in IMM- 13 October  2007
US Ambassador Her Excellency Ms. Nancy Powell visited IMM on 13 October 2007. She was very much impressed with the efforts of NMA to conserve and manage the culture of Nepalese mountain areas and the history of mountaineers.

Maoist leader visited IMM- 5 October 2007
Maoist leader, the Central Committee Member, Dev Gurung visited International Mountain Museum on 5 October 2007. During his visit, he inspected IMM with deep interest and assured his full cooperation for the promotion and development of IMM.


Farewell to IMM staff- 31 July 2007

Administrative Officer (Technical) of International Mountain Museum (IMM) Mr. Nabin Ghimire was given farewell at NMA Secretariat on 31 July. NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa thanked him for his worthwhile contribution towards the development of IMM and wished him all the best in life.

Dr. Harka Gurung Corner in IMM-5 February 2007
Hon'ble Legislature Mahadev Gurung inaugurated the Dr. Harka Gurung Corner in the International Mountain Museum, Pokhara on the occasion of 3rd Anniversary of IMM on 5 February 2007. The corner attempts to shed light on Dr. Gurung's life long quest through the display of his used materials, journals, photo records and books. NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa mentioned that the establishment of the corner in IMM is our honor towards him for his valuable contribution towards the establishment of NMA first and then again towards the development, management and promotion of IMM, Pokhara. First Vice President Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa, IInd Vice President Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama, IMM- Committee Member Mr. Ganesh Gurung also shed light on Dr. Gurung's incomparable and exemplary contribution in the promotion of mountaineering tourism of Nepal.

Incentive trip for NMA staffs- 3- 5 February 2007

An intensive trip of Pokhara was organized for all the staffs of NMA Secretariat from 3 - 5 February 2007. During their three day visit, they gathered current working pattern and knowledge about International Mountain Museum and other tourism spots of Pokhara. An interactive program with IMM staffs was also held during the visit.

Dr. Harka Gurung Corner in IMM - 21 January 2007
In order to display materials reflecting the life history of late Dr. Harka Gurung, NMA is establishing Dr. Harka Gurung's corner at IMM. The corner attempts to shed light on the life of Dr. Gurung through the display of his books including his used materials. The corner will be inaugurated by Hon'ble Legislature Mahadev Gurung on 5 February 2007 in coincidence with the 3rd anniversary of International Mountain Museum.

Artificial climbing at IMM, Pokhara- 20 February 2006
In a mid programme organized in IMM, His Excellency Michel Jolivet, French Ambassador laid down the foundation stone for climbing wall on February 20, 2006 at the IMM premises. The total cost for the construction of the wall is funded by French Embassy.

Free entry to IMM- 27 September 2005
The International Mountain Museum (IMM) gave free entry to visitors to IMM on the occasion of World Tourism Day on 27 September 2005. Documentaries related to mountain and mountaineering were shown on the same day..

Interaction in IMM- 23 September 2005
An interaction programme to seek the role of other museums in the development of the International Mountain Museum was held on 23 September 2005 at the IMM premises in the presence of various intellectuals, mountain experts, and museum curator. The Hon'ble State Minister for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Ms. Yankila Sherpa, was the chief guest for the programme.

Fare well for Ando Hisao 8 March 2006
Ex-JICA Senior Volunteer Ando Hisao and his wife were invited for a reception dinner on 8 March 2006 during their visit in Nepal. Mr. Ando worked as JICA Senior Volunteer in IMM.

Mr. Dragon Chang Welcomed- 18 March 2006
A welcome reception with dinner on behalf of NMA was held on 18 March 2006 at Swagatam Restaurant, Chakrapath to welcome Mr. Dragon Chang a representative of Taiwanese Alpine Association. Mr. Chang and President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa discussed setting up Taiwanese Corner at IMM, Pokhara in near future.
